Hi,
You have to give more details, as many as you have (like names, surnames, nationality, religion, dates, etc.). It may be Balnica, a village in south-eastern Poland now, inhabited mainly by Ruthenians (Lemko). The village was destroyed in 1947 and people were resettled to opposite corner of the country.

I am looking for information about my grandmother's father who was born in 1890 in Skalat and his name was Anton Heiter.
Anton's father was also called Anton Heiter and his mother Ida Sarkany. We are trying to find out if he had any other brothers or sisters as he died in 1930 in Belgrade, Serbia when my grandmother was only 7. There are indications that Heiter family left Skalat some time in the 1920's and moved to Temisoara .
Any information about Heiter or Sarnany family from Skalat would be greatly appreciated.
And also if anyone knows best ways to conduct this search, please let me know. If there is a city council, church or cemetery that i could contact for this information, please let me know. I would like to put my grandmothers mind to rest.

Hi,
You should determine the religion of the person you are looking for and then look for his birth record in one of a few archives. For example if he was roman catholic his birth record could be found in main polish state archive (Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych) in Warsaw. For other religions you can also ask there. You can also consult mormon database and if they have microfilmed the documents you can borrow the microfilms to your nearest LDS library. Their search form is here: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... umns=*,0,0

Looking for help in locating family/family records (Polish) in the village Banica. The old district/county during Austro-Hungarian times was Gladyszow.
In Ukrainian, the village is Banytsia, with the old Austro-Hungarian district/county Hladyshiv. Family surname is Gbur.
